Smile spark plugs for SB

Hi guys

I need to change the spark plugs installed on my SB 360 but I don't know what reference should I buy. Right now the engine has motorcraft spark plugs but I always read that champion, ngk and autolite are the most recommendable for mopar.

My 360 has stock 8.4:1 compression, HEI distributor and 58000V coil, Which reference should I buy?

i have a 01 dak with a V6 3.9 auto trans. i just had my mech put autolite ar 3933 gap at .040. it is a racing plug, and i am taking a risk, i know that. but they have been in for 3 mo. no trouble. i am NOT saying you should use the same. in by gone years i did a lot of experimenting with plugs. the most important thing i learned is, only try one cyl at a time to start with. that way you can at least get home.

This topic comes up quite often and everybody will give you all kinds of reasons why to use this or that plug....Champion is the factory plug RN12YC the short number is 404 at .035" with that coil you could jump to .040" gap... Now you will see how many other people chime in and tell you something else...Bill

I had read few times that champions work better on big blocks than small blocks, have a short shelf life and sometimes just blows the porcelain cover

What about NGK? I always read good reviews of those plugs, which reference will work fine with my engine setup?

Great in a car made in Japan...I have never had any problems with champion plug in cars, boats, snowmobiles, motocycles,lawnmowers.ECT... But if you must then go ahead...Autolites suck and I have replace ton of them before there time...They foul out real easy and wont come back...This is why I dont use NGK there are 4 plugs that cross reference to 1 Champion...They are 1)3247/BPR5EY 2)7522/BPR5ES 3)7038/GR4 4)6611/BP5ES...Which mean they really dont have the exact heat range for the application...Bill

I'm going to try champion, but all the 404 champions I found had 0.35" gap not 0.40", are you sure that those 404 can be found with 0.40" gap'

Nope your wrong they are made in Teledo Ohio..They were bought out by Fredral Mogul in 1989 and they are out of Southfield, Mich. If you researtch spark plug I dont think any of them are made in the USA.. They out source the parts to everwhere...But Champion is assembled in Ohio...Look at how much of your car is made here it will shock you...Kia is has more US parts then most it is simply sad...Bill

No you wont find them with a .040" gap. But you could gap them to that.. The only reason I said that was because of the hotter spark of 58000 volts not that that matters anyway. I left mine at .035" gap and it runs great...The wider gap will give you a little better burn and the spark will easely jump that gap...Bill
