Unhappy Turn signal problem

Hey -

I was out driving the Cordoba the other day and switched the turn signal to make a right turn, no worries, worked as usual. turned to go down the street, the turn signal switch went back into place. Got to the next intersection and went to make a left turn and the signals did not work.

Next day I went to the parts store and bought a signal relay. Still nothing.

The flashers work, but the signals do not.

Any ideas and advise?

Thanks

on the older cars they had a switch plate under the steering wheel. on high mileage car it is first place to check.
