Re-working 68 dart grille....anodizing removal?

I'm painting my grill, and I got new headlight bezels, but they don't match the original chrome look of the grill. I've been told that these grills are aluminum anodized, and that is the silverish coating that I need to remove to get to the bare aluminum, then I can polish it to match. Any ideas,,,thanx, dj

Caustic lye. Find some old Draino. Look at the label, it must say contains caustic lye. This will strip the anodizing. It will also kill you be very careful. I did mine with this, but like I said be careful.
