The Viper dash width is a good match. It's the mounting it that's the problem due to what is inside of it...the structures and ducts. I'm leaning towards what you see....a blending of both. If I go this way then I'll paint the hard parts black or cover for a match.

I can solve the issue with the AC and heater later. I need to fab up a rough tunnel so I can get the motor back far enough.

Since I will have to trim the Viper dash panel if I am to use it.............I will go ahead and cut it so we can see how it fits. The distance between the front axles and firewall is very different in these two cars........thus the fitment issues.

The custom front suspension may be here pretty soon. Be awesome to get the engine mounts located. One really great thing is...........the oil pan is FLAT.

Glad your keeping the dash, some guys do miracles with epoxies and plastics.

I thought that viper tunnel is huge and you might make a smaller on unless it has coverings that fit into the dash to make it look like one unit.

Though I like the '63 dash..........using the Viper parts is better.........and yes - there are several pieces that tie it all together.

Also the larger tunnel has square frame parts inside of it.......will make center of car stiffer.

While neither as glamorous nor exciting as an aluminum V10, custom suspension nor leather seats..........it is important.

I could not drive around knowing that there was a rusty firewall just above my feet and if I decide to sell the car someday my diligence will be demonstrated to potential buyers.

I would do the same thing.

My Dad always said "there's no such thing as perfect and good enough won't do,there is right or wrong, do you want me to do the job right or wrong"

Had some time to mock up the pedals and steering with some of the floor..........what a pain

When I look at these pics I remember why I don't like to show work in progress

This whole project is like putting a square peg in a round hole, but I'll win............

I do believe I'll end up sitting a little more rear than I wanted, but it is a compromise.

We can see here the wheel is in a decent location, but maybe 3-4 inches or so rear from where I had hoped.

Hello to the thread followers.

With the combination of frying temps in SoCal and my busy schedule for the next couple weeks I may not get much done.

I'm not giving up...........just a break :-D

I'd like some input. One of my fav car colors is Plum Crazy. I am now considering it for this project and found some samples. What do you think compared to the yellow I posted earlier?

More measuring.

The wheel will be about where it is, but the dash will be several inches more forward.

After I saw that Mustang and your latest picture, I can envision the final look and I think it will be fabulous, a real knock out.

Did some cutting, modding and welding.

I have the main structure of the front tack welded in place.
