1967 Satellite rear light switch

Hi guys my backup lights have not worked for years, I have an automatic on the console shifter, a while ago i lifted the console and found the switch in pieces. Recently i purchased a new switch and there lies my issue, as per the second photo the switch has wings attached to it, if i am correct this is not for my car, I feel that the wings should be removed and the switch should be installed into the metal slot as per the first photo. I will have to come up with a solution to attach firmly. Am i correct? if so any ideas on how to attach? thanks pete

Thats switch is for a column shift car..... I think your switch in on the transmission? Has 2 or 3 wires hanging off it?

I think my issue is that someone in the past came up with there own system, i notice the wiring for the switch is in the console behind the shifter, it appears to have been rewired looking at the electrical tape around one of the wires, the female end does not match the switch i purchased, also as per my earlier photo there is a metal bracket attached to the drivers side of the shifter, the parts i found in the console had a pin in it like the switch i purchased but must have been a smaller switch, even with the wings removed the new switch is too wide. I will probably need to rewire the switch properly and attach at the transmission because i do not know how this worked, but it did work for the first few years of purchasing this car. pete

Feel a little foolish but figured out my switch issue, i now see there are two switches that look similar, one that attaches at the transmission and one that attaches at the shifter, the metal attached to the drivers side of the shifter is the old chassis of the switch that fell apart over time. I purchased the wrong switch, proper one ordered and issue will be resolved

No it is original, i checked the manual and it listed as a backup switch, when i bought the first replacement i called it a reverse light switch, i googled it and the switch i showed in my photo came up, this time i googled backup switch console automatic and it came up on a few suppliers, i purchased my new one from Classic that sells mostly Mopar. I guess it was just a few years it was attached to the shifter.
