Aftermarket sheet metal for all the old cars is about the same, it sorta fit's and will drive you crazy trying to align it.

I called up desert valley parts again and I should have that quarter section in a few weeks, but until then I'll press on with the rest.
Got the floor section in last night. Gonna seam seal over my shitty welds tonight! I was just happy it fit!

Are you doing this for yourself or are you getting paid for it because I see dollars adding up.

Oh no, this is a paying gig, but I'm working with the guy some on the costs involved in all of this. I'm just happy he is ok with spending the money to make it right....Cry once!

Ok, more updates. I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel! Still a long ways to go but its starting to look like a car again. I'm still waiting for some metal from Desert valley but I expect to have this pile of parts in primer this weekend. Ill do the remaining patches when the metal shows up.
Hood fit terrible when the car showed up, but played around with the hinges and I'm pretty happy with it.
Passenger fender was a mess with dents, pulled them the best I could(and most time I was gonna spend honestly) and skimmed it and moved on with life.
Door jam all cleaned up also
Onto the drivers side. Should have most of the bodywork complete tonight minus the small patches done.

Some more updates. Its getting closer. Hoping to have it final primed by this weekend. Im still waiting for the lower quarter panel patch to arrive. So that and start fixing the trunk lid. Fun Fun..
Sorry for the image sizes. I need to change the setting on my phone.
Initial epoxy:
Superbuild 4:1 is my poly of choice..
First round blocked out way better than I thought it would have to be honest.
I did a second round of poly. Ill have that sanded hopefully tonight and by this weekend the exterior will be in final epoxy and ready to blow apart for paint in the next few weeks.

I've got a PPG industrial epoxy that's sandable that I like but when theres a large amount of filler work I like slick sand first.

I like to seal the metal and bodywork down with epoxy and then poly on top of that the next day. I use SPI epoxy. Its a really nice sandable epoxy also. I've used slick sand in the past, but super build just seems to build more IMO. Superbuild 4:1 is a DTM Poly, but I still use epoxy. Just personal preference I guess. I always final prime with epoxy and that will be prepped for paint.

I've been out of it for 4 years so I'm not up on the latest and greatest. Are the laser stripes going back on?

Welp.....this is final prime. I just got word from desert valley that they do not have the front lower drivers quarter section that I needed so that kinda blows, but im just gonna have to suck it up and make the patch panel myself and call it good enough.

Couple of areas I still have to fine tune now that the black is on, but for now I can pull the car apart, finish the passenger jamb area and start painting parts like the hood and fenders.

Ok, some updates! Took a few weeks off of this project to do some pull ahead work on my next car I have coming in, but here you are. I should have some parts painted hopefully this weekend ( Fenders and doors)
First order of business was the trunk lid...Oh how fun... Please continue to remember, I am NOT a metal guy!!! i can kinda fake it though...
This was a tricky repair though.

Door jambs were cleaned up, epoxy then highbuild primed, sanded and then final primed with epoxy. Along with the lower quarter panel repair job(which also sucked) It may not be 100% to spec on the shape but itll pass...

Ok, some more wonderful updates on this budget destroying project!
Got my *** kicked on this trunk lid, but after several evening of priming and swearing, I finally got it to a spot where I was happy with it.
I was determined to get something painted this weekend. So here it is.. Still a long way to go, but its a start. Ill cut these down next week and polish them.
Epoxy sealed, 3 coats of base, 5 coats of clear...... Little peelie, but whatever.. Itll all be cut down. I was rusty, lol
