1973 Satellite Sebring - Advice needed
I've owned my 73 Satellite Sebring since 95. Unfortunately youth and a number of contributing factors ended up ruining the lovely 12,000 mile example I stumbled upon back then. The car has been sitting since 99. Fuel and brake lines are rusted out. The engine turned over and ran with a low oil pressure light back in 06. The engine only has 51K on it now, but that's a moot point really.
318 car, standard 727 auto. I picked a replacement front bumper, lower valance, grill, headlight surrounds from a wrecked Roadrunner back in 96. (not pictured)
I'm not really in a position to strip the interior and part the car out for a future project, as much as I would love to. The seats are in perfect shape, just a bit dirty from the headliner falling apart and the dash pad only has a small split. I've had an offer from a local Mopar guy, of $500 flat. His plan would be to part it out and sell the remaining rust to a scrapyard. The car is very, very rusty. All bodywork is completely shot, as is the frame. The trunk pan is nearly all gone as well.
In my dreams I gut the interior, buy a Satellite roller from down south somewhere, do the requisite strip and prime, paint it white, and put a modern engine and suspension into it. But all things being equal, I have neither the space nor money for such an endeavor at the moment. I do have the option of letting it sit until my situation improves but push might come to shove financially.
What do you guys in the know think? All opinions, ideas, approximate value, whatever is welcome.
