383 starter fit
Could use some help! I have 69 Road Runner with 383 4-spd. Car has an aftermarket scatter shield, Lakewood I think. My problem is the starter(s) both mini and stock are hitting the header. It appears that there are two possible mounting holes for the lower starter bolt. When I bought the car the outboard hole was being used and it is also the one I'm trying to use now. My question is, can I rotate the starter inboard to the other hole without any issues? Will the starter still engage. Don't know what size flywheel is in the car. Thanx

You cannot move the starter!!!
Your only options are
do without headers
buy a pair that fit properly
modify the ones you have
How much interferance is there? Can you "dent" a tube or two with a hammer to clear?
I haven't kept up, but there ARE modern, compact and aftermarket starters--with permanent magnet fields--that are much smaller than originals.
