Need to know what to look for when shopping for a 68-69 Convertible
Started looking around to buy a 68-69 Plymouth/Dodge Convertible. Need advice on where to look for trouble spots for rust on the body. (This would be my first uni-body car) Know to look at the frame rails. Where are the other "trouble" spots that I would need to take a close look at. Every brand & model has it's own "hidden" areas where rust & corrosion tend to start.
Anything else I should look for other then the normal jump out at you sort of stuph......
thanks

one trouble spot is where the control arms bolt to the body of the car
typical rust spot on mopar
check the normal spots- quarters, under doors, etc.
also check around the dash area and under the front carpets to see if there is any major water damage there

I just completed the body work on my 69 convertible. I live in Ohio where the state mineral is road salt. My car needed both frt fenders, rear qtrs, trunk floor, rear trunk panel. The other spots that needed repair included the upper control arm area mentioned earlier, the door sill area below the hinges, behind the hood hinges, front splash shields and rear wheel housings. I was surprised to find that both doors were solid and in good shape. I found some good used frt fenders but new fenders are available now. The rear wheel housing is different on a convertible and was not available but they may be now. Mine is going to be painted in a couple of weeks and hope to get it ready for the road by next spring. Its been about a 6 year project but it was interupted with 2 active duty recalls.

watch the lower cowl areas, and the door jambs, lower firewall too. where the inner fender meets. road crap packs in there and most of the time never gets cleaned out. I.E. road salt.
