New Charger Owner

Hello everybody,

My name is Ryan and I live in the Minneapolis metro area in Minnesota. I have recently purchased a 1966 charger. It is, overall, in good condition and has had a Mopar 440 swapped into it. My plans for it are:

-Get the broken things fixed (left blinker, horn, back window)
-New paintjob (not sure on color bit has some minor body defects)
-Performance upgrades

I was wondering what you all would consider first. Do a once-over on the engine or fix some things that are broken but I can live with? Thanks,

Ryan

Ryan -

Welcome aboard!

Unless you plan on doing a full resto or resto/mod project car, I'd make it safe AND legal to drive first, then you other stuff as time and budget permit.

Thanks for the input everybody. I think I have found the fixes for many of the problems I have! After I finish fixing it up, what speed mods would you go with first? I was thinking camshaft, but can't find any info on which are good for the 440. What would you all recommend? Thanks,

Ryan

A good duel plane intake, Holley 750 Dp, headers with a good exhaust behind, and finally a cam with less than 220 duration @ .050 and a 3.55 gears. That should wake up your 440 !

You could use a electronic distributor conversation also, probably something I would do first.
Along with a full tune up.
