what kind of crank is it?
its probably 5500
the engine might be able to rev to 6500

also, if it is hydrolic lifters, their max is probably 6000, so thats yours too
6000 is your max redline
if solid lifters with a steel crank, probably 6500, maybe a little higher

i know how to check on a 440, bit I don't think it applies to 318's.
I think you have a iron crank
are you building the car for racing?

is the crank stock or aftermarket?

I'd set the redline to about 5700. the only time you will really get it up that high is during drag racing and even then thats pushing it.
