STUMPED!! electronic distributor install??

So I'm just going to admit defeat and ask. I'm installing the Mopar 440-426 electronic distributor and I'm lost. I've got everything wired according to the directions so I should be good there. Now here's my dilemma....I'm almost positive that my 273 small block is at top dead center. Line on harmonic balancer is lined up with the timing indicator, both valves are in the closed position, but my rotor does NOT point towards the number 1 cylinder, (front driver's side), as described in the instructions. It's pointing towards the firewall. What the heck am I missing or doing wrong here??!!!?? I appreciate all help and can take criticism, I'm just stumped right now!!

Thanks, BK

Didn't really forget anything. For some reason I had it in my head that the rotor had to point to number 1 cylinder. Just needs to point to number 1 on the cap. She's banging like a champ now and way more responsive than before!
