66 Fury III My first Project

1966 Plymouth Fury III 2-Door hard Top 383 Commando

The Body is kinda straight and most everything is there. I actually was able to drive it about 60 miles to home. I dont think its going into 3rd. gear and there is a loud hummmm coming from the rear end.

Started disassembly this week end.
I am looking for advice on where to find interior parts such as seat covers, door panels, and Dash Pad. Also wondering what size wheels and tires will fit under this thing.
I was thinking 15" rims possibly 8" wide in front and 10" wide in back.
The car has 14" wheels on it now and I think someone removed some leafsprings, Its setting really low in the rear and I only see 3 Leafs.

Looking forward to the car and this Forum.

Great car man! I only wish mine had the 383. If you are new to C body cars then let me be the first to say...patience. Very few items besides major engine and steering assemblies are produced or even offered. I have spent hours and hours searching the web for stuff for my 67 Fury and boy it's tough. If you have parts that can be repaired or cleaned up and painted then my advice is to do so. Donor cars are about the best way to do it but if the donor is better than yours then it's kinda backwards. A few yards have parts like Texas Acres, I definately suggest checking into your local yards for parts as well. I think you will find the effort you spend on the car will make it all the more fun and rewarding when it's done. I'm pretty new to Mopars so there are some much wiser folks here that probably know more. I hope I haven't discouraged you in any way, not the intent. If you stumble upon a good source for stuff please pass it on!

I owend a 66 Fury with a 383 comando in it a few years back and I miss that car. The car was a green color kind of like gold and green I dont know great looking color.

The 383 was awesome the original owner took my dad for a ride in it (80 years old) and the guy said hold on. I didnt belive my dad when he told me it laid black marks down half way down the street until I went to look at the car that night.

The car was straight only needing paint and interior work and thats the sad thing no one at the time had any parts for it.

Try Just Dashes for interior and if they dont offer it see if they know who or if they can restore it.

Welcome to the board and a great great Mopar. I still have the IBM card from the Fury and the guy dosnt want it. I love to have the car back.

Check to see if the kick-down linkage from the carb to trans is stuck, that can keep it out of third. Humming from the rear is probably an axle shaft bearing. Get it checked out before the tube is toast. For a manual on CD see>> http://www.detroitironis.com/ interior stuff >> http://legendaryautointeriors.com/ properly set ride height should allow 15's, might have to soften the inner lip of the wheel opening a bit. For other odd bits try http://www.texasacres.com/ Nice car!
