Angry Another C bites the dust...

Havent posted alot in this particular body style, but I do have one. As of last night my '77 Newport has been totaled... I will post some pics later but the batteries in camera are dead right now... Car was parked in front of house and a drink driver missed their turn as the speed was to great to even make the turn. Police guesses speed was over 70 mph when turn was initiated and then stuck the right rear quarter of the Newport, turning the car 90 degrees in the street. I am unable to move quickly due to medical reasons and other party left scene. I live in the second lot from the corner on my street and it is a big busy street ( its actually Business 40 {I-40} kind of away from alot of businesses and such. just a scattering of houses and small businesses. Its a divided highway and they crossed the median 2 lanes of traffic, another media ( we call it the ditch lol ) into my car. ( actually live on the service road) If the car hadnt been parked where it was I would hate to think of THOSE consequences. (They would have ended up in my bedroom)... Anyways I suppose I need to find a roller of some sort to put drivetrain in (440-727). I have the slant six volare but I kinda like the fuel sipping of it compared to the 440 lol. Pics will follow sometime today....

These were tough old cars !Sorry yours was totaled. I had a Dodge Conv Van totaled in much the same way. Someone running from the police hit my parked van. Pushed it up over the curb. It bent the frame, door. foot box, and the wheel spindle ?

Yes they are, and due to all the damage on right side of car i really didnt pay attention to the left side, but this morning as I was on the way to the doctors office pulling out of drive I noticed the C pillar on drivers side is actually tweeked and the rear window is blown out of the opening.... AND i still havent heard anything from the police...

Will try to get a pic posted of the "other" side of the car sometime today or tomorrow morning...

The police don't give a crap about stuff like this. I hope you don't get screwed by the insurance Co.. I was lucky the driver ran, but left the vehicle at the scene SO I was able to claim it on my uininsured/underinsured vehicle coverage

You were not in the car when it happened right?

If they did that to your car, I wonder what their vehicle looks like. I'm sorry. HAve you spoken with your insurance company about it?

Well suposedly they know where the car is supposed to be and the owner, but havent gotten any info on insurance etc... No I wasnt in the car, it was parked. I didnt have insurance on it as I wasnt driving it... Havent actually driven it in over six months... It did start right up to move it out of the middle of the street, which i guess is a good thing. Sooooo I guess I'll yank the drivetrain and try and find a likely candidate for a 440/727 combo. I need to pull the rear end also, to put back into the 72 Newport and maybe give it a go... (its a 400 2bbl, 4dr Hardtop car) It has a couple of issues that I am aware of and probably a few that I am not... I was just looking for pics of it and I dont have any on this computer... I think I have a few shots of it on the other one but not for sure about that either...
