Cracked Heater Control Valve... AGAIN!

Greetings Crew Members.
I've been enjoying my 1969 Chrysler Newport Custom. Lately The Ghost has been getting 50 smiles per gallon!

Then I noticed a puddle under the car. Traced the leak to my vacuum operated heater control valve. I replaced the original CRACKED valve with a NOS unit 18 months ago.

So what are my options? I'd be interested in a replacement metal unit but I'm not sure what will work. Once bitten twice shy about trying another 52 year old "new" old stock part. Interested in your thoughts...

Regards, Captain Chrysler

Yup, I felt the same way!
There has to be a 4 port vacuum operated heater control valve that is built better. At this point I don't care if it's a Ford part!
Any suggestions RacerHog?

Shoot us a photo and will see what we can come up with..
If I recall correctly, That one is mounted under the hood of the car? and is operated by one hose?

You are correct, Sir!
Here's a picture of the mystical unit. I plan to cob together a bypass tube, 3/4" to 5/8" so I can drive The Ghost while I locate a suitable aftermarket replacement. I appreciate your help finding the mystery part.

Warm regards, C.C.

THANKS RacerHog!

I've seen these before on other MoPars with AC. I'm a little gun-shy about another 50 year old part but it is metal, not bakelite that cracks.
I installed a plastic heater hose connector so I'm back on the road. Shouldn't need heat for many months.
I thought about contacting the folks at "Graveyard Cars" to see what they use. They might have a source for the same product. Thank you for your help!

Regards, C.C.

You mite try the local parts store.. and see if you can get a metal vacuum one ether 5/8 or 3/4. In size…
then just hook it in line with only one side.. should work it you put it on the input side.
just a suggestion..

These fit like a 1967 Mercury..
