This should give you a ball park.

As it sits, I would say it is worth around the "Low" valuation; $5-$6K because it hasn't been fired in some time and it isn't drivable. If you can get it running and drivable, you'd probably be looking somewhere between Average and Low; $8-$9K.

Thanks for the reply. I did look up some values via a few sites, but they don't allow for a comparison of options. I actually think the values are about right, but I've had other's say that the 426 wedge makes the car a lot more valuable since there were few made. I just want to be able to advise on an appropriate price for this car based upon the rarity of the power plant.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, rare doesn't always equate to valuable, especially in the C Body world. Take my car for instance, there were 1,418 300 convertibles made in '65. Mine has just about every option. I've got about $30K invested and would be lucky if I could sell it for that.

I think you would have to get all the block numbers and run them, or open the motor up to make sure it was a Max Wedge.
Not to say that it is not one. the motor could have blown up under warranty and had one installed, or visa-versa... But I have never see a Polara or a Monico with the (426 Wedge) in it in 65's.. I think the 300's got some earlier on?
It really didnt make much of a power differance, You could warm over the 383 to be able to hang with it, in the same style car.... But if you have the build sheet and you can make sure that it came with the car..... You could be on to something...
Keep us posted....

The 426 was not optional on the 300's in '65. The only C Bodies the 426 was available for in '65 were those from Plymouth and Dodge. I think the the pad by the distributor on the 426 blocks were stamped "HP". There are a variety of casting numbers for 426 blocks for '65 and I'm not certain which are for the C Body version. If you can, have a look at the pad by the distributor and see if you can locate the block code. Check the side of the block for the casting number. It's usually below the heads, on the side of the block. I'm not sure if it is on the passenger or driver side. Post your findings.

I'm certain it is an original wedge car. Not a max wedge, a street wedge. It has the correct block code (HP) and the fender tag decodes as a 426. This car was purchased off original owner in CT. I can take a picture of the block code later on this week to confirm these things.

Thanks again.

The HP code seals it up; 426.
