this thread got crazy! Mine is lowered about 3 inches lowered blocks in rear torsions turned in front rides goos not bad at all hugs the 17's perfect i think.

Mine is lowered ever so slightly in the front, and I am thinking about having the rear spring rearched to give it that raked look. Love the way yours looks raindance. Got me really thinking about lowering my "sled" all the way down. Not sure my chief fabricator would go for it though.

Anytime that I think that my Fury has a bit much rake..... I just take her to the gas station and fill her up! Levels her right out!! lol

I got a 67 fury III with the 383 BB and droped it 3", and still drives smooth. when im done with the full custom frame, body drop and bags on my 97 Dakota then the Fury will get a bag job to lay out. I have been in the mini truck scean for 22 years so everything i buy gets slamed to the ground on bags.

Pretty funny. I thought you guys were the rich ones. Concider the cost of gas alone, not to mention the cost of shipping parts across the pond. Still glad to see you doing the mopars up right over there.
By the way, did anybody actually mention? The only parts you need to buy are some flat steel blocks to put between the axle and the spring. Since it sits atop the springs this will lower the back the thickness of the plate, then new u-bolts and you are good. The front much easier. just screw down the torsion bars and get a new front alignment.

ok this is a serious question regarding the mechanics of lowering a 68 fury in relation to the op's original post. on the back of my fury it has a set of coil springs that sit on top of the rear axle almost like an overload setup. now is this factory or did someone ad them? and should they be trimmed down or can they be removed without a problem to lower? this is not my first car to lower and im not worried about any of it but i was thrown off by the extra coils out back.

p.s. i like to avoid hacking factory stuff up where ever possible and would like to have the ability to return it to stock height if i ever need to later.

Is your car a '68? If so, I wouldn't think that they were factory. I've been underneath many, many C-bodies and have never seen additional coils. I have seen 'coil-over overload shocks' but, never helper coils. These leaf springs have a tendency to sag with age and maybe a previous owner decided to add some support.

let me try to snap a pic in the daylight... thats what i was thinking but am no "mopar pro" its just a small coil spring that is attached on top of the axle and looks like it would only be under tension if the car bottomed out etc. (like a helper) thanks for the response ill get a pic asap

here's the coil spring.. im guessing its an ad on but it sure did confuse me when i first saw it haha im gonna loosen that u bolt and remove both sides. i plan to go as low as possible with this baby.

I've never seen that on a Fury but, it looks like it worked. If you're going to go low, a set of lowering blocks would be the simple way to do it. Then get a good set of shocks. I just installed a set of KYB Gas-a-Just shocks on my '68 and I am very happy with them. They are stout yet, allow the car to really ride nice. I have a slammed '95 Chev pickup (5"/7" Belltech drop) with the same shocks and the pre-load on the shocks keep it off of the stops. I had shock issues and the KYB shocks did the trick.

yep gonna have my machine shop make me some blocks in the range of probably 4-5 inch cuz i wanna go LOW it s just a cruiser for weekends but i wont know how low i wanna take it til i start crankin down the front. ive had a lot of diferent lowered cars with everything you could imagine. cut springs, heated springs, blocks, pinched, torsion etc im curious how low these fury's will go before they start to really ride like a rock? a friend used to have a 68 fury commando so low his oil pan would collide with the highway (lame) i may try to raise the motor, find/build a better clearance oil pan or try for some kind of skid plate.

Those are after market helper springs. They were common years ago when these cars were just old cars. They would help level a car with sagging springs. Some used 'em for trailer towing. Just toss em. Mine has add a leafes and they are going to the scrap yard. Lowering blocks are the way to go "IF" the car still needs to go lower with out the helpers. My car sags a bit in the rear as do most of these, and I just used taller tires in back to make it level. Might just turn down the torsion bars this time around as I am going through the whole thing now. Currently doing brakes before rebuilt motor and trans go back in. I found some nice old aluminum 14" slotted rims so no disc for now, but then next will be the Fury and that will go on a diet and get low but not slow.

I have a 1967 Plymouth Fury III and some parts are hard to come by here in the US where the car was originally made.

I have a 68 polara 2Dr that I want to bag and set down on 18" rims. For the short term I might now consider lowering with the T-shirt bars and blocks. But only till I find just the right bag system.

I love seeing people lower cars and then scrap the hell out of them going over speed bumps and the like.

If your going to lower a car you still need clearance underneath so before people go all gun ho measure how much clearance you have in the center of the car.

Imo anything but a 18 in rim looks like crap put them on some cheap honda civic and leave the old cars alone.

Sorry to go on about it and sorry to hi-jack this thread slightly, but it doesnt cost anything to be nice, we all have bad days but you dont need to jump down peoples throats when they use their right to freedom of speech and just so you know this, we in the UK also have a similar freedom of speech law, its just we dont quote it everytime we feel the need to be rude to someone.

I think that people shouldn't try to impose what they think a car should be on others cause its their ideal car or whatever. IM going to build the car I want and don't care if anyone else likes it. Its mine. I might give my opinion on something but I won't insult you because you want something different than I want. I have found a lot of people who want to build their car exactly the way Chrysler intended it from the showroom. That's cool if that's what you want but why be a snob about it if I want something different? "Whaa! That color wasn't available on that car in that year" geesh, talk about a bunch of whiny cry babies. I want to meet other gearheads and car enthusiasts on here. Not a bunch of snobs and cry babies. Try some tact. Also did you come onto a thread about lowering just so you could berate someone about lowering? Get a life.
