Back to lowering, I dumped my Fury 5 inches out front just by turning the torsions. No, it isn’t the greatest solution, but it rode fine and tracked straight.

I put 3 inch blocks out back and beware: get some nice shocks. My differential would smack the body now and again over train tracks and stuff like that.

No need to get angry! Sheesh all I did was give my opinion on the matter of the rims! It wasn't even rude though I can do that if you wish.

Still carrying on.... Almost 300 posts and 0 friends. wonder why that its. Is it because you speak before you think? Probably. I looked at things you have posted and you seem like a Real sharp tack. Your "opinion" was to say that my car would be crappy on "Honda rims". Get over yourself. I will just ignore any further diatribe from you ma'am or sir it whatever you are.

My good friend who is a long time old school mechanic bagged his 61 Impala and it's like riding on a cloud. I don't have any ideas about this and torsion bars but I'll bet he does so I'll ask him if he has any.

A lowered yacht on big wheels screams cool car. Anyone that wants to see it wrecked or calls it crap is a ****.

Thanks coronet. Ask your friend for me. Any help or advise with air bags is appreciated.

Skwerly, you said it was under the knife. Whatcha working on?

Moseyed, its not a goal to have no travel. The ride would be very good on bags. If you've never ridden in a bagged vehicle, you should. Its very comfortable. Not only that but its highly tunable. And if I want to drag along and look cool, I can. Or I can raise it a little and still look awesome and cruise down the road in comfort and style. Uh-uh, railroad tracks, speed bump, pot hole, ex-girlfriend, etc. in the road? No problem. Hit the switches and up you go. The best of both worlds. But there will still be suspension travel.

Haha, it’d be easier to say what I wasn’t working on.

I have the engine/trans pulled and the engine completely broken down. It’s going back together, slowly, soon here. I should be a bit above the 300hp range when it’s back on the road.

Spoke with my guy this morning, all we could come up with is an upper cup in the shock mount area with additional reinforcement like some of the coil-over conversions. A tubular UCA would be needed for the bag to pass through with another cup on the LCA. He thinks leaving the torsion bar in place but loosened will help hold the LCA alignment and tight to the shaft. The alternative would be removal of the torsion bar and welding the LCA to the shaft. We both agreed that the raising and lowering of the suspension would put additional stress on the lower rubber bushing. No easy answer here.

Love the lowered C-Bodies. To me, they don't look right unless they are lowered. Just ask the guys that designed them. They always wanted the cars to be lower than they came out of the production line. But the engineers said no.
I have a picture of my '70 Newport (but I don't know how to get it out of my picture file so that I can post it). 3" blocks in the back. Torsion bars cranked down to match. Adjusted the alignment as much as possible.
It could be just me, but I thought it rode like a dream.

PS If someone could help me figure out how to post the pic, I will.
Definitely worth it.

A lot of us use photobucket to host--then you just link the IMG code here and it’ll show up.

and I agree, c-bodies are meant to be low! The original fury ads even said it was longer, lower, and wider than previous models; they were literally proud of the yacht-like features.

I know this is a pretty old thread, but believe it or not, I just now finally figured out how to attach a thumbnail picture.
This is my '70 Chrysler Newport 'Cordoba Special'.
Torsion bars cranked down all the way, 3" lowering blocks in the back & suspension adjusted accordingly.
This car handled and rode wonderfully.
