OE Fan shroud or Electric fans? Both?
Hey all,
It's been a while and I bought my first house and had a hell if time with issues with it, sewer line break, garage collapse...the list goes on and on.
So after recovering (sort of), I am back on track with my Grandpa's Dream! 1968 Chrysler Newport 383 4 Barrel 727 tr. With the fresh new motor build I want to be cautious and not burn it up and my Grandpa for whatever reason removed the OE fan shroud, no clue where it is!
Given the the OE fan shroud is going to cost me a ridiculous amount of money, will this create the efficient cooling that I need? I know Chrysler thought so back then but I know excessive heat causes all sorts of problems and may have caused the whole reason for my needed to rebuild the motor in the first place.
What are your thoughts? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Can't tell from here. On a stock engine, tuned correctly, the stock shroud and clutch or flex fan should be enough. I'm using the stock shroud and a huge flex fan and usually do all right.
An electric fan or rather fanS. will cool better in slow traffic or while idling, but it's more wiring and you have to make sure your alternator and harnesses are up to it. If the are 1968 vintage, you really want to keep the max alt amperage under 100. You'll also need a shroud set up for it. Not some place I'd go cheap.
