1978 Roadrunner Question,.....

This "T" Top Roadrunner also has the A66 F-Body Super Pack Package. Can someone tell me what the super pack option consisted of?

The color scheme apears to be original. The interior matches the exterior with White, Yellow, Orange, Red & and Black. Pretty wild!

It has a 318ci Engine with a console shift, HD A727 Torqueflight Tranny.

Too top it off,... The car only has 70,000 miles on it! Check it out and let me know what you think! I'd like to know what it is worth,..

One of a kind???

Shoot, low production car, almost the end of the Road Runner totally, VERY few left after most of them rusted away, yea, it's pretty rare. I'll agree with 67, somewhere in the $8K range should be fair. I think the 2 lowest production RR's were the '80 lowest, and then the '72 second lowest.... anyone have the numbers? When you're as old as I am and start relying on your memory, you always miss something. Either you remember production numbers or you remember to unzip your pants to use the bathroom. So far, no wet pants lol

Thanks for your comments!

I just got an original 1978 Sales Brochure that shows the same interior option that I have. It also tells me about other options available. I believe that a plain Roadrunner did not come with painted bumpers and a Roadrunner with the Super Pak came with the painted bumpers. It's a great brochure,.. Now I am looking for a set of 15x8 Rally wheels,.. Anyone have a set for sale?

In the spring I plan on putting the car on my car tipper and detailing / restoring the undercarriage to original. Anyone know of a web site that woud tell me what was painted in what color on the undercarriage?

I am still up in the air on what to do with the exterior. The white on the rear really does look to be original or at least peroid. The black has been repainted with the original decal taped off. So there is a paint edge now along the decal. I have a Mopar friend that says he has seen this paint scheme back in the day and the paint scheme also looks familiar to me. Although maybe not original but it may be period to this car. I probably will just clean it up and leave it the way it is.

Believe it or not,... The last two owners of the car both thought the car was a clone and not worth very much. Unfortunately I do not know anything about the owner before them other than that he had it for quite a while and kept it in a heated garage. The guy I got it from only had it for three weeks and the owner before him owned it for about a year. I need to do more research on the car,...

The engine I am going to leave it with the auminum intake, four barrel and headers. I would however like to find a fresh air setup for it. Would one be a hard find?

Thanks again for all of your input and comments,..

AN old post but, It was a plain old volare with a dress up package, Spoiler, graphics, wheel flaps. window louvers. Performance did not match the Road Runner Name. There were a few that got the Lean Burn 360 (that never worked right)

A66...... RoadRunner Super Pak, and Aspen R/T Super Pak......
RR MV1 spitfire Orange only 1977 (EW1 Spinnaker White or TX9 Formal Black only 1978), Road Runner multi-colored tape stripe- Oreang/yellow/flat black 1977, and Red/Orange/yellow 1978, front air spoiler, wheel opening Flares, quarter window Louvers, Rear deck spoiler, rear dexk spoiler Stripe! That is what a A66 Package is, but you would also have to have the A57 package also!

Your rear spoiler was not factory installed, but Dealer installed. You have both stripes for a A57 package and A66 spoiler stripe. So, what does your fender tag have on it? A57 and A66, or just A57? Courious to know!

The paint scheme is not original to the car. The diagonal white flash on the sides and rear of the car was not something Chrysler did. The tape stripes on the side of the car possibly, and the interior is definitely Chrysler produced. The R/T Super Pak was only available in black or white (not both as your car is) and consisted of the multi-color stripes you have, plus a front spoiler under the bumper, wheel opening flares and a decklid spoiler. What is the trim code on your car?

There were no painted bumpers offered in 1978. They were all chrome.

The undercarriage of the body will be body color as will the upper control arms and outer half of the lower control arms as well as the rear axle. The torsion bars and sway bar will be black. The rear leaf springs will be unpainted.

Can you post a photo of the fender tag for the car or check under the seats for a broadcast sheet?
