Blower issues...anyone else?

So my blower motor only blows on high, the "fan speed" switch is useless. Interestingly, when I pull the connector to the blower switch, fan keeps blowing (on high of course) AND the fuse holder for the blower fuse has begun melting and gets so hot it burned my finger tip when i pushed the fuse for a split sec.

Anyone experienced similar with one speed fan and hot fuse.....? As always, Thanks!!!!

This is a classic case of the resistor needs to be replaced. When the blower motor resistor gives up, power is sent through it so that the fan will still work but since there is no resistance from the resistor, the blower will only work on high.

Not sure about your vehicle but I have found many GM cars and trucks mount the resistor near the blower motor with the resistor coils placed into the blower airstream to keep them somewhat cooler. I have never had to locate one on the better branded vehicles yet.

These resistors are mounted INSIDE the airstream on ALL cars I have ever seen to cool the resistor. So it should be somewhere on the blower/ heater box

I'm not sure in your case that the resistor is the ONLY problem. Seems to me that if the switch will not kill the motor, then the switch has failed internally

Thanks all! Interestingly, even when I pull the connector from the back of the switch when the A/C (or fan) is on, nothing changes, still blows on high. I'll look for that little bugger in the mean time. This poor car suffers from random electrical issues, too many little hands with tools..........
