Proof positive you can do anything: My 1941 D19 Convertible has a Jaguar xj6 in there and it is wonderfully unique sounding and lovely to drive. Plus it leaks just enough oil from the rear main seal to seem authentic......

Enjoy,
Jon

Would that be the 3.8 or 4.0 L?

The motor is from 1980, I think it is a 4.2liter.

Nice, yeah those Jag's were made to run. This car had rusted to bits in a Montana creek for years before Pop got his hands back on his first love. I imagine the motor was more like one big ball of rust than a rebuildable core. If I remember the story right, the donor Jag was a $200 crashed car with a perfectly good engine and transmission. Dad always liked British cars and these engines in particular, so what the heck!

I've been criticized by folks who think the only right way to modernize the old Dodges is with a new hemi motor. While I'll have to argue that cars are very personal with no one right answer, a new hemi makes any old Dodge a pretty cool car.

Credit where credit is due, my Pop built the car with the Jag motor in it. I am just tinkering and making up for 30,000 miles of deferred post-restoration maintenance.

My wife asked when I was going to be done with the car, twice. The answer was and will always be that you are never done working on a 75 year old car. There will always be something that it needs, and that's only part of the charm.

I've always liked Jaguars and inline six's, so I think the combination is cool.

Just did a little research on the jaguar six and it has a hemispherical combustion chamber, so ya it's got a hemi........

Great now you have me missing a car I sold seventeen years ago, thanks........It's amazing how a vehicle that was 49K new can be had for 2k now.
