1988 W150

There is a local guy to me that is selling an 88 W150 with a 318 TBI motor and manual trans. He says that it is a SM465 w/granny low first gear (every little boys wet dream come true tranny next to the SM420). Thing is though two other board members ask if he was sure that it was that tranny and not a NP435.

What do you guys think? Did Dodge ever install a SM465 manual in these trucks of this era?

Turns out that GM was the only company that used the SM465 and that Dodge did use the NP435 which is considered to have a "granny" first gear.

Anyone happen to know the gear ratio of each gear in the NP435?

Out of curiosity, what are the details on that 88 W150? Is it 4x4? What's the body look like?

Hy, 78D, I got a NP 435 in my W150. It might as well be a 3 speed. Would be good for actual off roading I guess. I know I will never hurt it with a slant though. Tough trans and easy to find

The dealerships will not have those, they usually stop carrying parts for vehicles that are over 10 years old.

You can probably get them off e-bay or maybe this place will have them.
