85 Ram Changing to soon

Hi there, I've got an 85 Ram with a 360 and 727, it changes gear extremely fast and once it's in third its very sluggish and doing only about 10mph I have to manually pull it back into second to get it moving faster, can you change the 727 externally to make it hang onto the gears longer

It sounds to me like you will need to adjust the kick down linkage.

Have you serviced the tranny at all lately?

kick down does work if you really punch the pedal but other than that it wont change down by itself when to press the pedal

It sounds like something needs to be adjusted. Make sure that the kickdown is adjusted properly and check the band adjustments. Other than that, it sounds like something internal like the valve body.
