They do make 30 spline Detroit lockers. If you can't find any and the spindles on the rear axle can be bored out to handle 35 spline shafts, then you can run a 35 spline Detroit.

Just the spindles as the ends where the hubs mount to. The thing is, some of the Dodge spindles are too small to bore. If they are then just get a set of shafts made from 300M material and you'll never have to worry about them again.

If that is too much for you then walk to http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/member.php?u=110379 for a set of Yukon 4340 front shafts and see what they have/can get for rear shafts.

As far as breaks go, yes 4 piston calipers would be great, or you could go with what everyone else goes with.... 78 C&#^y 3/4 ton front calipers and rotors and a disc break bracket like this one here. (way cheaper than that $1000 kit)

well the wilwood kit turned out to be for the a-body with the 5x4.5 lug semi float dana 60...but i did find another kit that is actually for the full float 8x6.5 lug for $570...the problem with the C#$^y caliper and rotor idea is that i wouldnt be able to keep the emergency brake, with this kit i can so even though its a little more expensive its worth it...

i figure when i build these axles i will do the D300 transfer case swap at the same time and go with Spicer driveshafts, than the drivetrain (except tranny) will be done all at once and i wont have to be out a truck that long...im gettin the whole shopping list together, gonna be hard to find good lookin wheels that will fit over those big *** hubs in the back, might have to just get some that fit the bolt pattern and have a shop bore out the center bore a little and find some bigger center caps

You can get a set of El Dorado calipers and still use the parts that I showed you. It is still cheaper than that other kit where you have to buy calipers.

Calipers - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/79-85...Q5fAccessories

Weld on brackets - http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/...ts_p_1438.html

Rotors - http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Brake-Rotor---Front-Wearever_5670586-P_221_R|GRPDRUMAMS_1180529480___

So for ~$200 - $250 you can have that kit that they are selling for over $500. Just saying.

As far that the t-case goes, you can also look into getting a Dodge 205 t-case. It should bolt up (might need to change the output of the tranny or the input of the t-case) and they are beefy right from the start. Just a thought.

now i see what your sayin on this brake idea...i like the way you think, my only question is these brackets are for a 3 1/8" axle tube and i thought the Dodge full float was a 3 3/8"? if nothing else could i take a die grinder and bore it out that little bit and it still have proper heighth to mount the calipers on the rotors?

The D60 FF axle is 3 1/8" OD. You need to clean the tubes and they should measure out to 3 1/8".

An open case has a set of spider and side gears that turn as the carrier turns, only sending power to one wheel.

A LS case (there are different ones on the market), will have a clutch pack behind each side gear that applies pressure to the spider gears causing both axles to spin. When the clutches start to wear out, the LS starts to act like an open but it can be rebuilt.

Yes. They only way that it would have a LS in it is if someone installed one at some point.

The only vehicles that I know of that came stock with a LS or a Detroit locker in the front axle was the C$&%y CUCV 1 1/4 ton trucks. The front D60 either had a LS or a Detroit (depending on the options on the truck) and the 14B rear came with a Detroit locker. Both axles where geared with 4.56 gears from the factory.

I was wrong.

I dont know what I was thinking when I wrote that last reply but it is correct now. It should have said 4" axle tubes not 3" on the 9.75 and the taper on the 9.25 is from 4" - 3". I must have been half asleep.
