1963 Dodge 440 auto trans
1963 Dodge 440 auto trans
I have several vintage Mopara. This question is about:
1963 Dodge 440
4 door
slant 6
push button auto trans.
After working fine for years, I suddenly have a trans noise.
In any forward gear position, there is a noise, but no noise in reverse. In neuatral the noise is less than in drive, but still present.
Noise is present stopped or driving.
It has a bearing sound, or grinding. If it were a manual trans, I would suspect throw out bearing. That kind of noise.
Any thoughts? I suspect I may be visiting a trans shop?

Thanks Racerhog-- you confirmed my fears.
Now the challenge is to find a shop that will work on this, and the even bigger challenge of finding parts. Perhaps I should start searching for a used trans?
I appreciate your reply.
