1971 Plymouth Scamp Loose Steering Questions

Hi ya'll,
I've been having an issue with my 71 Plymouth Scamp for a while now. The steering has a lot of play and the car feels like I'm driving a boat that's about to spin out of control at 45mph. I've attached receipts as well so you can see what work I've already done to try and fix this, tie rods, etc. Also, those of you who aren't from Los Angeles can have a good laugh at Hi-Tech Automotive's OUTRAGEOUS prices. I've also attached some pictures of the underside. Anyone know what I can do? Thank you, Robert

Hello Robert,
After changing the Outer tie rod ends, I am going to guess the inners are in good shape.... I'm Going to say that the Power Steering gear box is either having an issue or it is out of adjustment.
Looks for one of two things.... Dose the steering really have a lot of play? OR is the steering over sensitive off Idle?
If it is the Play..... Adjustment in the gear box could fix that
If it is Sensitive off idle.... That will need to have the pressure regulator valve in the pump addressed.

Nice little car.... I had a 1974..... Keep us posted... Happy Moparing.... I'm here in the SGV.... (For those that dont know>> San Gabriel Valley)...

bob - just a thought from a former scamp owner myself - look into electric power steering units - but I know 4 other guys that have had steering issues with a body cars that drag race - they went to the electric units for the hp gain and it took care of their steering issues - just a thought - jaxx
