65 sport fury?

In 1966 I owned a 65 Sport fury with a 426 wedge and 4 speed. Got married in that car and later traded it in on a Volkswagen. You can see the low intelligence that I'm working with. I would like to find another one now. Can any body tell me how many were produced or how rare this combo was? What would the data plate read to indicate the 426 and the 4 speed and what casting should be on the block? Thanks for the help.

found this on car domian. dont know how correct he is, but if hes close that car you had was very rare. this a convert, tho, "You are looking at a 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible. It is a factory 383 Commando car with the optional 4 speed transmission. The diff. is stuffed full of 3.23 Sure Grip gears.
The extra cool thing about this is that it is a Canadian Built car! There were only 6272 produced and how many of these were Canadian built? lets go one more step. Only 2.6 % of all produced were 4 speed cars. That's 1 of 162!
This is my car. It looks ROUGH! But I love it.

welcome to the forums, sounds like it was a real cool car. Good luck finding another 1. it will say 426 on the side of the block and on the id pad next to the dist. The 426 street wedge wsnt that popular w/ the street crowd. you got more power out of the 413 w/ crossram.

Your best bet is to get the collection of books by Galen Govier. I just bought the 3 set collection on ebay for about 30 bucks. Tells all you need to know. I have a 1965 Sport Fury and just bought the service manual and parts book for it. It may tell something about the fender tag codes and such. I'll look. OK...there were many different casting numbers used on the 426 wedge blocks. 62-65 used 1852029. That is the basic wedge. It is also the same casting number used for 1962 and 63 413s installed in mediam duty trucks. 2205697 casting# was used in 1959-1965 passenger cars. I did not think the 413 was used until 1960 but...the 1960 models came out in late 1959 so I guess that makes sense. 2406730 was used from 63-65 and was called a "Wedge Maximum Performance, or "Max Wedge" block. 2440873 is another but no date of use is given.2468030 was used for 413s and 426 wedge with no date given. 2532230 was used 64-66 and designated a wedge, max performance + industrial. 2658836 is another 413-426 combo block with no date given but designated as "industrial". Well, that is all I have for now. I know there were some questions you had that I missed but I just picked out the quickest one for me to answer. Hope it will help you somehow.
