73 Charger Electrical problems
Hi I'm Terry, lifetime Mopar nut and I restore Dodge and Plymouth muscle cars for a living....While I work on most every aspect of restorations...cosmetics(paint, body and assembly) are my areas of expertise
I own a 73 Charger 400 4-speed, and having some electrical problems, I can usually figure all this out but this one has got me pulling my hair out. I'm only getting about 7V to the + side of the coil and 1.5V to the - side....no spark.....resistor is getting hot. If I disconnect the brown wire to the resistor, voltage is normal(12V). if I disconnect either of the coil wires(one at a time) voltage is normal.
If I disconnect the ECU from the firewall(ground) voltage is normal...still no spark. Brand new engine wiring harness,ECU, coil, distributor pickup and starter relay. The car ran and drove before I had the engine rebuilt. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
