Thanks

I know I can get a 522 (440 base) 525HP 10:1 for under $8k

Carolina Machine Engine

I don't mind dealing out of CA b/c even with added shipping it's better'n paying CA taxes.

MRL... is a good Mopar guy... No B.S.

But in SO-CAl you have a few Choices....
JMS.... http://jmsservicecenter.com/

Brian.... http://www.immengines.com/

OR if you can find August Cenderstrand... He was down in Brea Ca. last I heard...

OR Dale Reed....

As much as I love the HEMI.........I love my wallet more.
I can't justify the coolness when I can get more power and less weight for cheaper.

I had a Dodge M37 with a 392 and it was bad azz.........426 is even wilder.

Hahahahahaha... I know that feeling..... But just an FYI, Dale is an old Super Stock Champion with Mopars... He could do Wedge Motor's also...
Lots of nice little combos out there, I am sure will find something out there you will like... You just have to watch out for those guys who say they know how to build Mopars... Some of those guys Suck at it...
Keep us posted on what you come up with...

Since I am just getting this car ...........and it was not cheap.......I'm thinking to simply buy a used 440/727 to clean up and throw in. This way I have a driver with some ***** and can take my time on the motor build/bills.

What should I pay for a running motor and shifting trans ...........and what (if any) should I avoid?

Also..........
What other bits will I need to swap out to get it in there? Poly 318 to RB motor ..........thanks

..........and I need to retain pushbutton trans function........

Found this for sale local:
$725
Dodge 440 Engine and 727 Transmission. 1976, 4 barrel, 46k miles. Running, you can listen to it run, put trans in fwd, and rev. We will remove after purchase.

-------------

I know I should get pre SMOG stuff.......even pre 71, but if I get a decent combo for cheap...............

Found a Viper V10 for $3K :-D
