Hello

Hi guys,
New here and looking forward to gain some suggestions on my 67' Fast Back barracuda. Originally a slant six 904 now is slowly becoming a 360 727. Complete budget build and low spectrum of budget as in Soldiers pay with a family type budget. Goal is a fun reliable street car. Current situation is I have the motor out and cleaning up the nasty engine bay getting ready to drop in the 360. However, I couldn't leave well enough alone and just decide today that I was going to pull the cam out of it and possibly install Comp's XE256. Why the 256 well my parts combination is quite mild. I have a low mileage RV 360 1971 motor that someone rebuilt at some point with fresh 973 318 heads. Not the ideal head I know and will probably choke it down substantially. But has harden seats most likely being made 75' thru 83' 1.78-1.50 valves. I should have the benefit of great velocity and a little compression but lack the flow. The 256 should in theory scavenge the exhaust better and with 340 exhaust manifolds should get me to around 250-275HP maybe 300ft LBS respectively. This is all just a complete estimate on my part. Going with the orange box ignition and has a 71/4 2.76 one leg. Sorry for the long intro. What do you guys think?

Welcome!

There is some great knowledge here that I'm sure will chime in on your motor.

If this is the cam http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...x?csid=84&sb=0 it should work fine, your combination being what it is get the springs also. Also make sure your intake is for a 318 not a 360, if you use a 360 the runners are larger than 318 ports.

Personally I would look for a set of 360 heads to go though first, this will give more performance than the cam.

I would have just left it alone for now and put it in the car......
Get that old coffee can out and start building another motor while I enjoyed driving the car for now.... Just my 2 cents..
Have fun with it.... Keep us posted..... Thank you for your service's..
