Hiya
Not sure if my previous message attached, still learning in this forum how to respond.
Had cuda for a short time so far, would love to get a manual for him, as looking for parts as a list of fixes to address, including major rust, new exhaust, auto electrics and engine issues. But he is in great condition for an original BS Vin, 1973 all red cuda from Missouri, USA>
Hope to acquire plenty of knowledge as to how to keep it original, fix it and enjoy driving fast ... for many years to come.
$$$$ expensive little hobby .. but learning as quickly as I can.

Great picture!
Most folks think about the engine and transmission first, but if the car is original, take a good look at the suspension, it's usually pretty bad.
There are some great aftermarket sources, but not sure how the shipping would be to OZ.
Depending on what you plan on doing with the car, think twice about getting rid of the automatic transmission.
Assuming you have a 727 trans and an 8 3/4" rear.
Do you know the gear ratio, assume it's a 3.23?

Just take it to the track for fun and events, cruise, and bit by bit restore him. Will keep auto transmission.

Then I can always check for reproduction parts etc if feasible to bring in from USA myself, shipping is possible with some USA parts online stores.

I will find out more about the car when my mechanic is available.
I am reading and I think you may have mentioned it in an old thread that a 3.55 3.73 gear ratio is better in a 3 speed auto like mine?

3.23 / 3.55 are good all around gears; they will handle both highway speeds and still give you a quick launch.
I think the first thing to do, besides having fun with the car, which it sounds like you're already doing, is to figure out the end game. (And NO, there doesn't have to be one right now.)
Choices change depending if you want the best track times, highway cruiser, show car (restoration) or a little of all three.
There are going to be some compromises.
Sounds like you're doing your homework, so address any safety issues first, and then figure out how fast you want to go
Posting some of your thoughts might give us more insight.

My first mission is to make the car absolutely safe and reliable and get the engine running better, not burning fuel (our prices are torture here in aussie) and next month replace the entire floor pan?not sure of the term but its all got to go due to rust. A little bit at a time as rather $$$. Eek.
Its not going to be an everyday car, I have one of those. It's to go fast on the track and get prettier every little spend towards how it used it look but with some modern things like air con!! (queensland is damn hot) LEDs? All things to ask you guys down the track so it doesn't suck up my power or ruin the car. Then when I am at that point, look at what it needs restoration wise V increasing speed. Like a missing dimmer switch, new carpets, a ralle red? paint job, new bumpers, cuda grill etc.. and where I get them from.
That's where the wealth of knowledge here will benefit me!! Thanks again for your thoughts.
