ignition switch

I have a 1973 dart swinger and when it's in park it won't start or turn over but when I put it in neutral it starts right up. What is the problem?. Also when ever the key is in the ignition it makes a constant beep .

You have a shop manual? download on for free

http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=31

Almost always, when the car will crank in with shifter in one position and not the other, it is

shift linkage adjustment......read the service manual

neutral switch going bad

or something broken internally in what folks call the "rooster comb". This is rare, but can happen
