My 85 D150

Long time reader, first time poster. Hoping y'all can point me in the right direction on an electrical problem I'm having with my 1985 D150 (318 V8.)

I bought the rig about a year ago (may have been a year ago today, actually) with the intent of using it as an around-the-house truck and also a canvas to practice some wrenching and painting skills on (pix will come later.)
The biggest PITA this thing has given me though is the brake lights. They were inoperable when I bought the truck, but I figured they wouldn't be too hard to sort out.
I've searched other threads and even other forums, but haven't found a lot of usable info. Here's what I'm experiencing and what I've tried:
Head lights work
Tail lights work
Turn signals work
4-way hazards work
Original switch was bad, so replaced it with a new one from LMC Truck.
Fuses are ok (except for an A/C fuse which I don't use anyway.
Replaced all the bulbs in the back

I'll mention now: the truck did have a pretty rudimentary trailer light setup when I bought it, and I cut the pigtail off that (it was just hanging down under the bumper)

I have noticed that I'm not getting power to the brake light switch, even though the fuse looked good. I've seriously thought about running a line from the battery directly to that side of the switch in a (somewhat desperate) attempt to make some progress, but I'd rather not start a fire.

Hoping that I won't have to tear the dash or steering column apart to chase this ghost, but that would be my luck, given my history with project cars.

I appeal, humbly, to the community.

If you have the wiring Schematic look and see if the wiring is write at the Turn signal switch. I'm thinking the Brake light go threw the switch? I could be off. Maybe?

I've heard that it may go through there. I'll have to get up under it this week and look. Didn't want to take apart the steering column but... in for a penny, in for a pound.

Much obliged.

you can run a hot right to it in a pinch, just fuse it!

You should be able to see the plug arrangement just by taking the lower steering cover off... Should have to dig to deep...
