New to engine rebuilding

Hey guys, I'm new here and so new to engine rebuilding. Just lookin to get some info on a 440 engine I'm lookin at buyin. I want to rebuild an engine, I've never done it before, but I think I can pull it off. I want to rebuild a Mopar of some kind. Everyone I've talked to says I should start with a small block ford/chev, except for my old man, he's a mopar freak like me. Is the 440 big block a good engine to rebuild for the first timer? The engine I've found is a 1975 440 Magnum, I think it's a Magnum. Anyway I guess all I need to know is how pricey/available the parts are for this block. Thanks.

Kyle!

You can do it. Just remember keep it all clean when assembly starts. Get a book or a friend who has built a few engines to help.

A good book is your new best friend, and as mentioned above, Clean, clean clean. No problems for parts etc. But as anyone in the know will tell you..get a book and don't be in a rush. Welcome to the show, it's the place to be. If you have questions..ask away.

No car yet, just rebuilding an engine for now. My garage is too small for any car to fit. I figure I'll rebuild the engine first and then the car when I can get something bigger to work in. Don't really care what the engine goes in but it's gotta be Mopar of some kind.

Kyle that is a good starting point. Do you know what car you want to get?
