New to the forum from Tx with a 1973 Dart Swinger

Hello everyone, I am new here with a slew of questions. I am 28 and live in Montgomery Tx (north of Houston). I am married (for 4.5 years) with 3 kids. I joined here because I inherited my dads 1973 Dart Swinger. Its been about a year now. Haven't been able to do anything with for the fact of money and just because it's a reminder. It has a custom paint job designed by himself and he help pain it. He was a Mopar man through and through. The car was always suppose to be a project for us to do together. The idea was to make it street/strip car on the weekends. It has a stock 360 and bad transmission as of now. The idea was to pull both, rebuild the motor and get around 450hp and replace the old tranny with a 727. I know enough on cars to get me by (took 2 years in high school and rebuild 2 other motors) but not a expert on the matter. Which is why I am here. I hope to learn from some people that are experts just like my dad was. Anyways long enough, if you read this all thanks for the read and look forward to talking with yall. Thanks.

Welcome.

You are the age of my sons although mine have no children yet. If I can give any insight it would first be do not tear it all apart with the vision of that perfect finished car. Fix things as needed to keep it driving, this will keep finances in check and enthusiasm high seeing the fruits of your labour.

Too many, like me in my younger days, have done this and not finished a project.

You'll find this place helpful, friendly and not judgemental like some of the people on other boards.
