newbie with question

I have a 1979 dodge power wagon, i pulled the motor so i could rebuild it but before i start buying parts i checked the casting numbers. First on the passenger side it has the 8*7*87*, i know this is when it was cast so i realized i didnt have the stock motor, the code on the drivers side is *4387530-31823*, does the 318 in the code mean my engine is a 318?

Yes. It is a "LA" 318 V8. The only other number that would be there would be "360" as those were the only 2 V8 motors that Mopar was using at the time.
