OVERDRIVE
Hi' i'm new to this stuff so bare with me. I have a few old mopars 65 Belvedere with 440 and 4 speed also 64 fury convertible thats not done. My love is the belvedere. I'm looking for some info it's 3:90 gears and runs about 3200 rpms at 55. I'd like to put an overdrive in it. I looked at TKO 5 speeds but heard they don't like to shift over 6 grand not that I do it all the time but I do and if I'm going to spend $3000 on a trans it should do that. Also looked at gearvender about same price and I like the gear spliter. I have heard the 833-A is the best trans you can get. I would appreciate any info thak's

Welcome! I have a 67 Belvedere GTX clone with the A833 4 speed. There are two flavors, the 18 spline shaft and the 23 spline shaft. The 18 spline is the more stout of the two. I also thought about an overdrive trans, but just could not spend that much money, so I got rid of the 3:91 gears and went to 3:55 which is working out fine for me at less than a third of the cost of an OD trans.

I have the 23 spline it's seamed to hold up. I had broke a lot of things two 8 3/4 and a drive shaft. I know a lot of people arn't going to like this but I put a ford 9 inch in and that held up. I wanted the dana but I had the 9 inch. anyways you are probably wright with the gears. I just think it would be nice to have the best of both wolds.
