440 big block help??

So I decided to start my first build, and have bought a mint 440 big block with a 727 on it. It runs pretty good and everything. What’s the first thing I should start with?

Ah, paint it?

Seriously, things like a compression test, std refresh would be a good idea. Where did it come from (type of car/truck), year and what do you want to do with it?
You'll need different things for 1/4 mile, circle track, daily driver or a combination. What's it going into?

Ya gotta give us more info.

Well it’s out of a 2500 truck, it’s a 70 440 long block with an edlbrock intake. That’s just about everything I know about it.

And what do you want to do with it???

If it's never been rebuilt, it's due.
The parts you put it depend on it's purpose.

Ditto on the tranny.
