Alright had it running. Found out that the fuel regulator can not handle the pressure so it either works or cuts the fuel. Going to order a new one here soon with a return line in it. Main question is not I do not have any charging. Engine runs off of the battery and the alt does not charge. Just bench tested the alt and it is good pushing a solid 15v. I learned that the PCM controls the drive wire for it and also regulates voltage. Any way to wire in an external voltage regulator and be done? Thanks for all the help guys!

Jar, do you have a link online for the shop manual or wiring diagram for this thing? Unfortunately I'm not familiar with this later stuff. Sounds like Coronet "has been there." Make sure you don't cross connect the start wire with the bypass circuit, as he said above. Maybe one of the later Jeep style starter relays would be of help? They have an extra set of contacts:

Photo is too large, click the link. The new contact is bottom left and would go to coil +

I found a good write up as far as eliminating the computer from the charging system. Here it is : http://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen-...onversion.html

I was able to order the parts from a local advance and they will be there tomorrow. I was not sure what kind of fuel regulator I should be looking at to work well with my OEM fuel pump. Is something along this: http://www.jegs.com/i/Holley/510/12-803BP/10002/-1 I should be looking at? The current one I have is nothing like it. Has a simple in and out port no return and you just select the pressure between 3-5.5. The issue with is is that is the pressure is too strong for it and is causing it to not function properly.

My truck is a 1990 W150 360 LA engine.
My TBI intake has a boss for a bracket at the back of the AC compressor. Did you run into this problem? What intake did you use to convert to a carburetor? Thanks!

(If you used a magnum engine, intake will be different.)
