Latest on my 440 build
Sorry guys it's been a while since I've been on the forum. Just wanted to update you with the progress of this engine build. I can only go as fast as my budget allows. Here is what I have so far. The block was short blocked at Las Vegas Machine shop. I traded out the cast crank for a forged which was internally balanced. I have speed pro pistons .030, Isky 264 megacam with .300 cam lift .450 valve lift 264 duration. I have Edelbrock performer rpm heads and manifold. 440 source roller rockers and timing chain cover. Indy valve covers and ARP bolts everywhere. There is a Moroso pan on it now but I have to Change it to the milodon cause its goin in my PowerWagon and I need a rear sump. I just order the oil pan E3 plugs and a set of Hedman headers. I'm not sure what carb to go with yet. The guy at 440 source says to run a holly 750 double pumper, but with all the edelbrock stuff I was thinking an Edlebrock carb. Any suggestions??? Putting some pictures up as well.
I just did a similiar build. Great job on yours. Dig the color combo. I put a eddy 600 on my rpm performer manifold with the rpm performer heads and it is plenty for me. I did the same bore and used the same pistons. I went with a comp cam with similiar specs. The way it was described to me is to get max performance from your parts. If it feels restricted I can always go up. The car is a beast and I am not planning on racing it.
I am not crazy about the double pumper on the street. 750 vacuum secondary would be a better choice. you can make a double pumper work but it takes some finessing and a bit of experimenting/tuning. A four speed would make the double pumper more feasible. Eldebrock also makes a 750 which would work good. Just my .02.
( friend of mine a long time ago almost burned up his 67 charger 'cause of a double pumper wasn't tuned right)

X2 with Omaha on the Vacuum-vs-double pumper advice. If they make one, try to find a "How to tune your........." manual for whatever carb you buy. Best $20 you'll ever spend.
if they make a 750 eddlebrock carb that would work very well . the eddy spread bore will give very good throttle response & work very well with that cam . sounds like a very good torque / street motor . if you had .500" lift or more & manual or high stall converter then I'd go a dp .
