So my trusty old 78 fury ex cop car the tired v-8 still ran but the tranny finally blew up. I picked up a wrecked 89 5th ave for the motor tranny package and now been told there is too many differences to just yank out one set and reinstall the new combo. Anyone familiar ? Thanks!

Rebuild the trans and swap out the long block...

 

standard duty 89 5th probably has a A904 lockup trans,. The Fury cop car would have a A727 trans, different animals. The engine intake manifolds may be different as too hookups, carb size
