727 Fluid Type

What is the correct fluid type for a '66 727? I seem to recall something about ATF but I'm not sure. Thanks.

Actually today trans fluid is trans fluid. In the old days there was a type "f" for Fords but basically the only difference was detergent levels.

Oops ..."thinking with my dip stick Jimmy..."

So Type F, ATF, and Dexron/Mercon are all compatible with my trans?

If you want to be comfortable with what you get, Dextron.

There is always the "performance" tranny fluids that you can go with too like B&M's trick shift.
