Actually today trans fluid is trans fluid. In the old days there was a type "f" for Fords but basically the only difference was detergent levels.

all fluids are NOT the same! the difference is the friction coefficient (look it up). the type of fluid might be imprinted on the dipstick. i believe it is dextron. the wrong fluid can cause your tranny useless.
did you know ford had a type "A" fluid? it was used before most of you were born, lol.
