Big Question On the Engine to Buy???

This is probably stupid question, but I'll ask anyway.

Car: 1970 Dodge Challenger.

I found BB-Chevy 496ci / 725HP (GM 4-Bolt Main) Engine for $9,794.99, "NEW"

My Question is, Will it mount on the original K-Member? Do I need different motor mounts? Do I need to make it custom to fit?

Any suggestions? But I would like to put it on original spot.

Thanks

If you feel like laying out that kind of , there's 426 Hemi's available.

I'm sort of a purist, but I sure wouldn't put a Chevy or Ford motor in MY Mopar. Never. Ever. Not even post-apocalypse.

Buy yourself a Hemi and keep the Chall sexy.

Someone else brought up putting a chevy motor in a Mopar before and I don't think we ever heard from them again after tha bashing they took for even bringing it up.

There are plenty of crate Mopar motors that you can buy for that price like a 500 wedge crate motor for $9,500.

If you plan on selling it down the road, use a Mopar motor. Otherwise you're going to take a vaue hit when you get ready to sell it

500 wedge won't give me the same output that this one will. Plus, I guarantee you that it will cost 4-6 thousand more to turn the key.

I'm still thinking!!! That's why I'm asking.

NOT PLANNING ON SELLING IT EVER!!!! PERIOD......

Everything is custom in my Challenger. The only thing that original is the body.

Would never TRADE, love the body of challenger, don't like the engine option that mopars have. Hemi costs about 12-13 thousand. BB-Wedge about the same.

Want something that will cost less and have big output.
I know there are combinations you can do to get bigger output (HP/TQ) but it will probably cost me the same as getting the Hemi.

I wouldnt put anything else then a Mopar in my Fury. But I hear what your saying. Mopar engines are usually way more expensive then the Chevy ones.
It seems to me that its also much harder to find performance engine parts that actually make significant horsepower on a Mopar engine.
Anyhow 10K is a lot of money. and 700+HP are not coming that easy out of a BBC. I hope its not a bored stock block. You know where the power is coming from? Blown, Nitrous? I would be careful buying any engine for 10K if the HP is supposed to be that high. You have a dyno chart that could confirm the performance?

But Im sure you checked all that already. Just thoughts that came to my mind.

man for 9 grand you can buy a 440 block and build it all to the hilt and use alum. heads and still have left over and get 650 horse, and it looks good and very low maint. dont overlook what you have in the back yard. plus its true to the car, meaning you dont need to hack the body up makin a brand x motor fit in. they offer injection setups for 440`s now too. man skys the limit.

And not some brand new German interbred mopar, a classic. ITS A CHALLENGER MAN!!!!! In my not so humble opinion you might as well go buy a chevette, or Monza like the other guy said.

There are too many options for HUGE horsepower out of a good 440, or as was stated a 426 Hemi. And yeah itsa bit of work, but theres something to be said for building it yourself, or having a trusted builder do it. I know you can get a 426 Hemi used core for WAY less and have it built. For the kind of money your looking to spend...........

I would rather be tied naked to a tree in the woods, have barbeque sauce dumped all over me, and left for dead than to rape a mopar like that.

Chevy Powerplant into a Mopar........... "I think I just threw up a little into my mouth"...
haha
right on man

Wow last I replied to this post was july. Something else to consider, Mopar nationals? cant run there (chevy power) Oops, super Chevy shows? Nope not there either with a Mopar body. Tough not being accepted at either camp. I owned my 94 Viper for about 12 years, I was never going to sell it either, then along came an unexpected heart attack. Thankfully it was very marketable and sold for a good price quickly. Never say never.

Just a Thought....

Haven't you been reading my posts!!! I will never sell this Challenger. PERIOD. Look at my profile, there are picture there and tell me if you would ever sell that. Come on guys I was just asking if that can be done, it doesn't mean I will do it. I just want to see what kind of options I have.

I don't know about you smoke that motor. Just a Thought....

You can sell that blazer to yourself. Are you out of your mind, Blazer for Chally. You must be out of your mind. It's kind of like asking you to trade my bicycle for your car. Where did you get this idea? Come on people read more carefully.

I posted it to see if that can be do, it's not like I'm going to do it.
