you turn it all the way up and then turn it back until the roar in the background goes away and it is quiet. can it be beefed up? sure, contact a radio repair shop.

Cool, so i tried adjusting the squelch that way but the only way i heard anything was with a bunch static, i could hear faint talking.

cb's only reach a short distance. it can vary from 2-20 miles. as they say, your mileage may vary.
