electrical problem
ok ya'll so i just keep finding things wrong with this car about ready to sell it, so now i have an electrical problem somewhere here is what happens
i drove the car the other day after buying a brand new alternator and battery next thing i know the car starts to sputter like it is out of gas so i pull into a gas station and fill up (instrument panel needs to be fixed) after filling up i get back on the road and it starts back up sputtering then it just dies out, just before it died though i check my temp, temp was in the norm so once i come to a stop i put the car i park wait about 10 min and try to start the car nothing it wouldnt turn over had the same problem before which is why i bought the alternator and battery so im pretty sure it is a electrical problem somewhere

It might be the gas trank itself. I had one that did that, I could drive it for about4-5 miles and then it would just die on me. Would let it sit a while 10-15 mins. and it would start up again and go 4-5 miles than die. After replacing the whole ignition , alt and batt. {was upgrading anyway so money was well spent} a friend of mine came over, got under the car and thumped on the gas tank, "your tank is full of crud, gotta replace it". He was correct. [it was sucking up dirt and then it would settle down].
When it dies out, you need to check for spark. Hold the plug wire [end] about a 1/4 inch away from the plug and have someone turn over the engine. Look for a nice bright blue spark. {use insulated pliers}.
Got good spark? yes good. Now look down the throut of the carb whilst you work the linkage, opening the throttle plates. You should be able to see the gas squirting from the acceleraror pump..
When it does start, you need to check the running voltage with a voltmeter
