Engine/transmission ?
So I have had my duster sitting for about 8 months while ive been getting parts i got the hooker headers installed offenhauser manifold and edlebrock500cfm performer series put on then had to wait for $5oo to install my exhaust with dual flowmaster 40's and tips. Thought i was done.... nope tried to adjust carb and atleast i was able to get it to start and stay started no idea if the mixture is right lol but anyway the problem is it will idle but when i put it in gear it cuts off. I raised the idle which was high and it stays on but the car is pulling to go... i read some things but cant find specfiç*to mine... TCC or lock up solenoid... could lthis be the problem if so is it hard to fix ? what should i do first? any help would be appreciated

Nope. No power brakes. it idles fine just not while in gear. It either cuts off or I have to adjust it to a high idle and put it into gear . When i do that it feels like im pressing the gas and the brake at the same time ready to go like i have no clutch

generaly edlebrock carbs are NOT jeted right. just find my olher posts about that. the basics is to rejet it to more like chrysler jetted carter AFBs. this is for chrysler engines camed like chrysler did, for the VERY fast engines the jeting should be different.

Oh.... Automatic transmission btw dont know if that was obvious or if i had to say that :/ thanks for the feed back so far my main concern is why it seems i have a clutchless automatic trans any help on that would be great thanks

My 318 was doing the same thing, I'm not sure what exactly it was but I know it was either bad spark due to a loose coil connection or a gummed up jet. Check to make sure you have a solid spark, then I'd look at the carb

does anyone else have any advice on how to fix this issue? I bought the car replaced steering gear all front suspension tie rods bushings and all new headers exhaust radiator intake manifold carb dual exhaust and got an alignment done oh ignition switch spark plugs and fluid change and all i have is a paperweight.... all i need is some help on this transmission problem so i can put this classic back on the road. please give me a hand or a finger in the right direction if you can spare some advice . Thanks

Lil Help Please.... There are alot of car/ mopar guru's here and Im feeling like I just asked everyone how many atoms are on this planet and no one can help? even a thought or something ..... is it really this bad?

What camshaft are you using?
Like others have said, check for vacuum leaks. Find some aerosol cold start and lightly spray all gasket edges around carb base and intake flange. If it increases rpm's or any change, you have a vacuum leak.
Other than that you need to improve the basic tune-up

How old is your carb?
I had a similar thing happen... it would start and idle, even rev a bit, but when I tried to drive it, it would not pull above an idle, and it would die if I didn't let off the gas.
Turned out to be the accelerator pump circuit. New gasket kit and it was fine. (No surprise, though... the car hadn't been driven since '85.)
