Last time I had to deal with that Bob the 360 had so much blowby from stuck rings it would push the dipstick out and blow oil on the bottom of the hood after I fixed the intake gasket....🙂
70k of short trips over nine years filled the 360 full of carbon and sludge.....

Scrub-a-dub-dub!
I always find myself rationalizing my long-held beliefs about what "clean" means after my elbow grease starts to run low;
"If all the gunk is flat, things will still line up for a good seal. Once I close this up, I won't be able to see how bad it is anymore."
That devil on my shoulder is clever. Have to remind myself that he doesn't want my car to run right. He wants me to have to re-do simple work and suffer.

Well... Long story short.... WE have a bert # 5 cylinder intake valve... Sooooo, Off with the heads and shipping them off to the machine shop for a repair and freshen up...
Just an FYI for those who are looking... This is a Mopar Performance Magnum 9.5.1 Short block with LA heads on it. Using a 268H Comp-Cam... And Yes it Pings if you get after it. Quench is all wrong on these with Iron stock heads.

RacerHog,
When you say Ping, do you mean a spark problem or a valve problem?

Damage to the pistons and valves and all that. But the real shame is ruining that beastly idle he must be getting from that cam! Haha!

Edit:
Just as well you had to take the top end apart. Looks like it would appreciate a nice hot detergent bath.

Yesterday took out a wall at other son’s house, too sore today to do anything.

Well I picked up the boy at school today and he wanted to go fishing, he had made plans with his best buddy that we were going fishing. Now I don't know how many of you have gone fishing with a pair of eight year old boys that have a full load of **** and vinegar but it's a good time. My favorite is the only tree on the riverbank and a clear 100 yards of open shoreline on both sides, both of them cast into the tree. Frogs rocks dead fish all had there attention. Not a fish caught.
It just doesn't get better than this!

Good Morning Y'all….. TGIF.... I'm Working on getting the old Dodge back to running. Heads are back from the machine shop. She is fighting every step of the way. Now I am having to "Make Chips" of a Aluminum Manifold to fit... I wish the Emission Requirements / Restrictions would go away so I could put a descent engine together for this thing. Good Smog parts are getting hard to come by, they seem to be all pieced mealed together... Dam California
Oh Well... I'm done Crying about it.... Moving on
What are you working on this weekend??????

Customer must want reliable performance, not pretty. You'd think the customer might tidy it up a bit when he got it home, maybe he looks just like his truck.
