I feel for you Moe... But I also say Yes........
I had to also do this with my mother... She was a gal from Arkansas... And about your Ma's age.
They "moms" really hate to loose their freedoms!!!!! And let me tell you, Your going to get told hear in a few days... But stand fast... It is for a good reason.
However be understanding... Someone now has to drive her to and from everywhere... But she will get use to it in about 4 years.... Oh I mean a year or so...
Good Luck....

My Mom bless her heart is 82, just had eye surgery for cataracts. Drives like the little old lady but still safe to drive. Her big trip is to the grocery store or WalMart. Drives the typical 2001 Buick but there is not a mark on it

i thank you all for the kind words. and get this she has NEVER banged the sides of the car / G door. and the drive has a turn to get into the street. she has lived there from 1985. she has never put it in the ditch. but she forgets and just drives right by where she is going. and uses half of two lines at the same time.

I dearly hope you can convince her and your other relatives, friends, minister to support you. Assure her that people, including you, will be there to support her. I'll admit, this is tough

The last day my Grandfather drove, he ran a stop sign in a K car and got T boned in the left side, with someone in the rear seat on that side. They were all very very lucky they weren't hurt badly or worse.

Several years before that, he had a middle 70's Dart. One day I was on the freeway, going to work. In those days I commuted. Here was a slowdown, everybody moving left to pass. I get up here, and there's Gramps and my step Grandmother, doing about 40 -45 down the freeway in morning traffic, completely oblivious. Nobody, including my Dad, wanted to listen.
