Well, I guess after this weekend the real fun begins.


After I drop the Charger off at my motor man, it will probably be ready for


pickup minus the engine and tranny to move back to my shop


by beginning of next week.


And I guess I will do as recommended and begin the disassembly process.


I gotta leave the wheels on for last I presume otherwise it will be a little tough to move around as per to the media blaster guy.


I will have to take this one day at a time.


I think I might do something different next week,
like put up the canopy, yeah, that's the ticket.


Cause one thing is for sure, summer heat is right around the corner.

I am going to RESTORE all the original parts just like new.


Of course, there will be some additions-


new carpet, refurbished/redone leather seats, whatever the motor man replaces, tranny upgrade, new Goodyear tires, new electrical wiring, new headliner, redone dashboard,new brakes, suspension,new radio/avionics,
gauges rebuilt, new paint after blasting and probably a hundred other items, all OEM Mopar when practicle.


As I restore, all original equipment will be restored or if replaced, packed away for future owner to preserve 100 percent accountability.
(When and if I sell it on my deathbed so I can at least rest somewhere in Peace)


Don't know whether new manifold and four barrel on the list.
Have to play it by ear and preserve as much original as I can.
However, I will not jeopardize safety.
But, although I will stabilize the exterior paint, I will not be repainting it or changing the PATINA until after the 2017 Route 66 Run.

After the motor job and the media blasting,

Seriously, I was wondering if you have a body shop lined up yet, or had shops look at the car? While the car is on the trailer take it to a few places and pick their brains for some directions with the car. Talk to at least two shops that do restorations and get some ballpark estimates.

 

One of the main reasons for taking it and putting it on display is to give
all the Classic car guys a hands on look at it.


Just like here at the Forum, the Biff-Burger has many knowledgable people and has been a meeting place of car enthuists since the 50s.


And by dropping the motor and tranny off at my motor man, he is very good. He is a straight shooter too and will do what has to be done and advise me on a plan forward.


I will not lie, when he saw the pictures, he was quite quiet.
I know what that means. And again, this will not be cheap.


All along the way, there are people who will assist me in this quest.
I will do as much as I can, but, for this to be the car I envision it to be, I will have to let the professionals, like you, do there magic.

Ok, lets say everything goes awry.


I have some good points to back up my plan.


I have a low overhead.


The car is already paid for.


I don't drink, I am too old to chase the ladies, I quit the smoke years ago,


I still crank the Rock and Roll, gotta have some vice.


I own my house, my big dog of the family is still hanging,
even though the Vet told me it would calm him down and he would live longer if he got snipped. I talked to him about what the Vet said and all I seen were teeth looking back at me.


And I got a dynamite job with good pay for as long as I want.


If all goes good, I will retire in 2017.
Worst case scenario, I keep working till I turn 67.
Crap, I could croak any day along the way, so what the hell.

I am taking my own knee jerk feelings to try and justify myself here.
Kind of like the kid who owns the football in the neighborhood weekend football game.

If I am going to be here, in business or look myself in the mirror,
I am going to have to have faith in my convictions.

I am getting ready to go in front of a tough,tough crowd of bikers, beer drinking car nuts and other fine people on Sunday at the Biff-Burger.


I cant defend myself because I have yet to begin this journey.

And yes, this is kind of entertaining, because you feel so strongly that this is a disaster.Everybody likes to see failure, it makes them feel good and reassuring that themselves don't do risky or unbelievably crazy stunts.


That's ok, I can stand that.
But when someone accuses me of doing something against someone else,
such as "playing us",
and then other people agree by saying "yep",
well, that's just not true.


If I was that clever, I surely would not be here telling the world my story
and putting my company out there for ridicule and mud throwing.

Think hard people, what am I really doing here?

 

Speaking on sitting on my **** and doing nothing,
I think its time to do something to get the canopy up.
I have made major steps forward by unpacking the canopy and loading it in the back of my pickem up truck (phew) theres a lot of poles, screws and covering to load.
I am going to the Lowes store to buy a "come-along winch". That way I can pull the Charger out of the way and another car so I can begin the setup operation. I gotta have it because once the canopy is up, I will need it to get the car in and out to work on it.


Almost a hundred years ago, my Mom was born in the English Empires spot called Scotland.
So, as the Queen says, its time to-
